Consciousness is everything. Without Him (Consciousness) there are no divine beings. It is the essence in all divinity. Tapas is penance. It happens when we workout on a treadmill when the extra heat generated and expelled as sweat through the pores of our skin. Tapas of the mind is when through contemplation, we work out all the wasteful thoughts that cloud. No Tapasya is beyond consciousness which shines through at the end of such a penance when the impurities are washed away. Consciousness is the basis for the actions of the trinity - Brahma or creation, Vishnu - preservation and Sankara - dissolution.
Without attuning to this consciousness, I know no other way of liberating the mind which is constantly torn by the dualities and polarities of material existence, says Tirumoolar.

Swahilya,
Lovely picture.I liked the way you have linked the treadmill to tapas, and contemplation to tapas of the mind.Put that way, you understand why tapas is necessary, to become part of Consciousness - Avanandri onrum illai. How true.
Meena.
Thank you Meena. That's an Indian Jade Shivalinga (Green Aventurine) that I bought recently and crystals delight me!
About the treadmill and tapas, it was my experience once ofAmritasya Putraha - We are all children of the immortal essence. This happened when I was sweating it out on the treadmill once! In Tiruvasagam too there is a line - Ooninai Urukki Ulloli Perukki meaning reducing the body and mind and increasing the light of consciousness.
Swahilya,
Beautiful post. It's great to know the divine is within us and we can achieve pureness by letting go of negative influences. The most blessed word in the world is peace and peace of mind can be obtained through a lot of sweat and letting go.
Great photo!!!
You are such a beautiful soul!!!
